Grace L. Hinchman

Grace Hinchman joined the Financial Accounting Foundation (FAF) in November, 2009 as vice president, government affairs & external relations. In this role, she is responsible for the overall coordination of the government affairs strategy and stakeholder outreach to support the mission of FAF, the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), and the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB). Based in Washington, D.C., Ms. Hinchman brings to the FAF more than 25 years of legislative and regulatory advocacy experience.

Ms. Hinchman began her career on Capitol Hill having served on Congressional and Senate staffs including the staff of the late Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan of New York and Congressman David Emery of Maine. Her expertise in public policy and advocacy developed further during her nine years at Financial Executives International (FEI) where she set the strategy direction and led the management of FEI’s advocacy activities. During her tenure as FEI’s senior vice president, Ms. Hinchman developed a keen understanding and appreciation for financial reporting policies and issues such as mark-to-market, revenue recognition, and international convergence of accounting standards. Earlier in her career, she led Digital Equipment Corporation’s Washington, D.C. office and had overall responsibility for tax, health care and internet technology policy issues.

Ms. Hinchman holds an M.B.A. from George Washington University and a B.S. from the University of Maryland. She has written regularly featured columns for FE Magazine, appeared on NPR Radio and presented testimony before Congress on financial accounting policy issues. She is a member of The Tax Coalition and Women in Housing & Finance.
