News and EventsGASB Proposes Suggested Guidelines for Governments That Voluntarily Choose to Report on Their Service Performance The GASB has issued a Request for Response on Suggested Guidelines for Voluntary Reporting of SEA Performance Information. The purpose of this document is to obtain feedback from constituents at an early stage of the Board’s project to develop guidelines to assist state and local governments that voluntarily choose to report on their service efforts and accomplishments (SEA). SEA performance information includes performance data regarding a governmental entity’s inputs, outputs, outcomes, and efficiency. Without such actual SEA performance information, it is difficultif not impossibleto gauge how well a government is achieving its intended results or how effective it is in relation to the resources it receives from taxpayers. The proposal lays out a propose frame work of suggested guidelines that are intended to help state and local governments communicate their SEA performance information effectively.
