Registration Is Now Open for August 10 Webcast, An Overview of the GASB’s New Pension Proposals
Norwalk, CT, July 27, 2011—Registration is now open for the upcoming Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) webcast, An Overview of the GASB’s New Pension Proposals. This live webcast, offered free of charge, will take place on Wednesday, August 10, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. EDT.The webcast will feature Robert Attmore, chairman of the GASB, and David Bean, director of research and technical activities for the GASB. On June 27, the GASB approved a pair of Exposure Drafts that propose significant improvements to its standards of accounting and financial reporting for the pension benefits that state and local governments provide to their employees. One document relates to the governments that provide pension benefits, and the other relates to the pension plans that administer those benefits.
Robert Attmore and David Bean will provide an overview of the proposals and their objectives and also discuss the due process that will occur prior to their finalization. Registered webcast attendees can ask the program hosts questions about the pension proposals.
The live webcast is offered free of charge to viewers who preregister online. Registration is also available at www.gasb.org. Preregistered viewers will be provided with a link where they can access the webcast a few minutes prior to its live airing.
